Empower yourself as a parent with tools you can rely on to become the secure base your child needs. Overcome challenging behavior, work through the personal patterns that trigger frustration and overwhelm, and build a family rich with more laughter and connection.
Hand in Hand Parenting is a Trauma-Informed Parenting Practice. Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) can have lasting effects on a child’s brain, behavior, and long-term health—but there is real hope for healing. This article explains how toxic stress impacts development and introduces a practical, trauma-informed roadmap using the ARC framework and Hand in Hand tools. Parents will discover simple, relationship-based strategies that build connection, strengthen emotional regulation, and foster resilience—empowering them to buffer stress and support their child’s healthy growth.

These Parenting by Connection tools can help transform your parenting into the playful and warm journey you always hoped it would be. Get support for your child's challenging behaviors and the stress of parenting in today's world. You are not alone!!
You will get an introduction to five pillars of Parenting by Connection and how to integrate them into your family.
You will get an introduction to five pillars of Parenting by Connection and how to integrate them into your family.
- Special Time: Create small outlets of presence, love, and attention to your child's playful desires. This increases warmth in your relationship and safety for your little one (no matter how big) to open up to you about what's really bothering him, creating loving open communication for a lifetime. Special Time leads to a healthy secure attachment increasing outcomes for lifetime wellbeing.
- Playlistening: Harness the power of laughter to help you and your child work through difficulties in parenting, diffuse tantrums, and laugh through the ridiculous challenges parenting poses. Proven to help reduce ADHD symptoms.
- Staylistening: No more time outs or star charts, this radical approach to tantrums and big feelings helps children feel they are not alone with their feelings and gives you the confidence to help them through the big tears and fears of childhood in a way that creates more resiliency and emotional regulation.
- Setting Limits: Most of us were either punished harshly or let loose without limits, but children need healthy limits to feel safe. Learn how to set firm, effective limits paired with warmth, love and presence. No more bribes, threats, or show-downs. Heal your own inner child from wounding left from your parents harsh or dismissive limits by taking this journey to set limits with love together.
- Listening Partnerships: Parenting is tough, and the stress is cumulative. We are not meant to do this alone!! Listening Partnerships gives parents a place to connect on the joys and sorrows of parenting in a nonjudgmental and warm environment with other parents. This will ease the hard work of parenting and stave off the isolation by keeping you connected to a community of like-minded parents.
In a small group led by child and family therapist, Karen Wolfe, MFT, you will get guidance on the above Hand in Hand Parenting principles as well as support for yourself in the tough job of parenting through your own Listening Time every group. We will weave any information that you find helpful regarding my areas of expertise: social skills, self-regulation, "spirited children", sensory needs, helping your child focus and attend. Using Parenting by Connection principles as the backdrop, these skills are woven in to support your child's total wellbeing.
Testimonials
"Thank you for facilitating this wonderful class -- it has been tremendously helpful for us. In particular the staylistening had an almost immediate effect and we've seen [our son's] tantrums come down a lot. "

"Together with Karen Wolfe and other wonderful people I was part of a very warm and beautiful group of people. Karen was always punctual, always answered my questions, emails, anything, and whenever I had to solve something, she was available. Authentic, warm, I never felt judged by her, and I was able to open my heart to her. Because when we speak about our difficulties, we are vulnerable. Thank you, Karen !"
